ESG Controller

In this exciting new role, you will report to Group Director Finance and will work very closely with the Head of Sustainability, Group Finance and the entire finance and business community. You will play a key role in setting up, driving and maintaining ESG Reporting on global level. 

We recognize the value of substantiating our sustainability strategy with well-established, aligned ESG reporting. In addition, we need to comply with the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive by 2025, driving the need to expand the team with further expertise in this area. 

The ESG Controller will support the implementation of a compliant ESG reporting framework. Working closely together with Group Sustainability, Group Finance teams, as well as various ‘business’ stakeholders (manufacturing, supply chain, HR), this person will drive the data collection, controls, performance monitoring and analysis, to ensure all ESG information is timely, complete, accurate, and consistent. 

Your tasks & responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and implementation of compliant CSRD reporting as of 2025 within Refresco worldwide;
• Effectively engage with a diversity of stakeholders across various disciplines and levels of seniority in the organization;
• Support the Head of Sustainability in driving Refresco’s sustainability strategy, including the development of ESG reporting policies, guidelines and practices
• Collaborate with internal teams across Europe, North America and Australia to integrate ESG reporting throughout the business
• Define, collect and analyze ESG data to measure performance on material ESG topics;
• First point of contact for ESG reporting questions from the business  
• Develop and maintain ESG data systems and reporting tools to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely reporting;
• Participate in completing ESG questionnaires;
• Translate ESG data into insights and linking this to the current financial and operational reporting;
• Consolidate data and create reports with CSRD performance measurement;
• Work with financial reporting team and external auditor in the annual report process.

Your profile

• You have a Master degree in Business Economics/Finance/Sustainability or a related field;
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience relevant experience in financial reporting (IFRS) and ESG reporting experience is a plus
• You enjoy engaging with a variety of stakeholders across disciplines, covering financial as well as non-financial topics
• Strong reporting and project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve issues independently
• Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and how ESG fits into this
• Eager to learn, self-motivated, and a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
• Experience working in a (fast) growing multinational company is strongly preferred
• Experience in systems implementation is a plus
• You enjoy working in an international and multi-culture environment;
• As a person you are accurate, have a can-do mentality, love working in a fast-paced environment and have an entrepreneurial mindset.
